We’ve already made some amazing changes on campus and in the world. Here are just a few:
Spring ’11
- CJL supported Take Back the Night
- TBTT was endorsed by the Environmental Issues Committee and supported by the University Senate Executive Committee
- 26 students attended national Powershift 2011 Conference in Washington, D.C.
Winter ’11
- Building compost bins throughout Fraternity and Sorority houses
- Drafted a proposal to establish a UO Foundation Responsible Investment Committee
Fall ’10
- Got approval for the Sustainability Center in the EMU (Coming Soon!)
- Testified in front of the City Council in support of the EmX Expansion
- Organized 350.org 10/10/10 work party in conjunction with Eugene Community
- Got the ASUO Senate’s support for banning the sale of bottled water on campus
Spring ’10
- Reduced bottled water sales in the residence halls
- Switched residence halls to stainless steel water bottles for all freshman
- Created a full time UO Student Sustainability Coordinator (With the ASUO Exec)
Winter ’10
- Lobbied US senate offices to pass climate policy
- Stopped the purchase of bottled water with student fee money
- Installed 26 new spigots on campus (With Campus Recycling)
- Distributed 1200 reusable bottles to students on campus
Other
- Hosted more than 10 trainings for CJL and other students
- Made substantial contributions to the Cascade Climate Network, Sierra Student Coalition, and Grand Aspirations
- CJL in the News!
- Received $1,000 from Pat Kilkenny Community Service Grant for building compost bins
